Coast For A While!
Manitowoc - Two Rivers is a location with not only stunning lake shore
views but also an extensive River-walk and Trail systems. Mariners Trail
is a 5.5-mile paved recreational trail running along
the shore of Lake Michigan between the cities of Manitowoc and Two Rivers, Wisconsin. And if you continue
through Two Rivers you pick up the Rawley Point Trail, which winds six
miles through
the pine and hemlock forest, all the way to the historic Rawley Point
Lighthouse at Point Beach
State Park.

In addition, Point Beach State Forrest features 2,900
acres of land and six miles of sandy beach
along the shores of Lake Michigan. A popular feature
within the property is the Rawley Point Lighthouse, which has been
operated and maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard since 1853. (What is
exceptional about this is that there are three lighthouses all within 12
miles of each other). So whether you are an avid hiker, biker, boater,
skater or canoeist...you have trails available for close to just over 12
miles right along the lake shore. An if this isn't enough, Woodland
Dunes Nature Center (in Two Rivers) also offers six trails that allow
visitors to explore the
1,200 acre preserve that includes woodlands, meadows and
marshes and is famous for birders. All
trails are relatively level and easily hiked, they range from ¼
to 2 ½ miles long. Two of the trails, Cattail and Yellow
Birch, are
wheelchair accessible boardwalks. Manitowoc - Two Rivers
invites you this year to come to the twin cities and:

Stopping
in at the Manitowoc Area Visitor and Convention Bureau, extremely
friendly staff shared 12 pages of events currently listed from now
through December and warned me to check in each month, as new events are
added daily, spanning every interest area. Between the Outdoor Summer
Concert Series on the Metro Stage, The Lincoln Park Zoo (the Prairie
Dogs are my personal favorite), there are Car, Air, Horse, Alpaca and
Llama Shows, Balloon Glows at the Manitowoc County Airport, and Kites
Over Lake Michigan at Neshotah Beach (aptly named by the Chippewa
Indians, to mean "a junction of two rivers). You can board the SS Badger
Car-ferry which will take you and your vehicle across Lake Michigan, or
visit Wisconsin's Maritime Museum which will take you on a
historical tour of a WWII submarine, all of this and you are just 30
minutes away from Road America. You will also have access to charter
boats, fishing and Carp Fest or the Rodgers Street Fishing Village.
There are also the West of the Lake Gardens and The Flying Pig to explore. I
found the area, the scenery, vistas and views, the trails, the gardens
and the people of the area to be extremely welcoming. And I haven't
even mentioned "Sputnikfest" and the aliens. My trip to the area of
Manitowoc and Two Rivers spanned only a short four hours and proved to
be very inviting, I really want to return soon to:
